Aah, Fall...that magical time of year when we trade in our swimsuits and lemonade for cozy knits and pumpkin spice lattes.
Fall is my absolute favorite season. There's nothing quite like feeling the change in the air when I go outside, taking my coats out of hiding or buying new boots. Though temperatures may change more gradually than we'd like, our #beautygoals seem to flip overnight. I don't know about you, but I've already traded in my bright summer polishes for navy and oxblood.
Fall '17 is all about fearless experimentation – bright colors, smoky liners, and metallic shades that blind. Here's the tea on how to have some serious beauty moments this season.
#1: Just Bitten Lips
Brazen berry lips dominated the F/W17 runways, but we're also seeing a more modern take on a classic with deeper purples, lilacs and metallics being thrown into the mix. Don't be shy...embrace your inner vamp! Find a signature burgundy shade to take up residence in your purse but don't be afraid to mix in a bright plum at times for a daring pop of color. Add a sweep of metallic gloss to make that transition from daytime chic to nighttime glam.
- Wet 'n' Wild MegaLast Metallic Liquid Catsuit in Coral Crown, $4.99
- Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in LAX, $6.00
- NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen, $6.50
- Lime Crime Metallic Velvetines in Eclipse, $20.00
#2: Natural Brows
It's time to put away the Dipbrow girls! The IG brow has had it's day in the sun. Switch up your brow game by utilizing a more natural approach to a killer brow. Try using a feathering pen or a tinted brow gel to enhance and define your natural brow color and keep their shape on point. This season the brow's motto is “less is more”.
#3: Vivid Shadow
This season's color moment? Every color! Blues, greens, oranges, metallics, pinks, reds...whatever color you choose make it bold and bright. Mix, match, and don't be afraid to create messier looks that appear effortless. Sheer out a bright shade all over the lid for a serious punch, or create a striking metallic smoky eye by applying a metallic shade to your lid and smoking it out with a charcoal or black in the crease. Don't forget – a good primer will kick your pigment up a notch and keep your look on lock.
#4: Artsy Lines
Don't limit your eyeliner looks to your go-to cat eye this season...smudge that bb out to give yourself an “I just woke up like this and don't give AF!” punk princess vibe. Play around with messy undone looks, architectural shapes, and contrasting colors. This season's liner is all about not taking itself too seriously.
- L'Oréal Infallible Paints Eyeliner in White Party, $9.99
- Maybelline Curvitude Liner in Black, $8.99
- Rodial Smokey Eye Pen in Black, $21.00
#5: Dewy Glowing Skin
This Fall is all about contrast. Your eyes and lips will take center stage so give your skin a break from excess contour and bronzer and leave your skin with a natural lit from within glow. Keep your skin extra moisturized as temps start to drop and try dewier formulas like luminous foundations, cream highlighters, cheek stains, and brightening concealers instead of mattifying everything down flat.
- L'Oréal True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Foundation, $12.99
- Colourpop Super Shock Highlighter in Smoke N Whistles, $8.00
- Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector, $30.00
- Milk Makeup Holographic Stick in Supernova, $28.00
With so many options trending this Fall it's the perfect opportunity to get creative and experiment with looks outside the lines of your comfort zone. With that in mind, keep the spotlight on one or two features to exude a laid back aura of modern sophistication while you're out stocking up on those pumpkin scented candles.
