DIY Toner to Treat Blackheads: Apple Cider Vinegar & Mint Toner March 18 2016, 1 Comment
Blackheads are not supposed to be picked, but sometimes, some people can’t help it. Instead of picking at your blackheads, Here’s a fun weekend project you can try out : A toner that you can make at home by mixing together ACV and crushed mint leaves.
It takes about a week to finish preparing, so if you start it now it should be ready by next week!
Apple cider vinegar can help breakdown the stuff causing the blackhead; while the mint creates a cooling “tightening” sensation on your skin. If the area around the blackhead is swollen or irritated, the menthol can help tame the inflammation. Inflammation can make it harder for whatever is clogging your pores to come loose in the first place.
What you need:
- 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
- 3 tablespoons of finely chopped/crushed fresh mint leaves
- 8 ounces of water
- Cotton balls
Combine vinegar and mint in a small bottle and let it sit for 1 week in cool dark place. Strain, add the 8 ounces of water, and store in the refrigerator for up to 6 days. Use nightly, rinsing your face first with water and then using clean cotton balls to apply the toner. Leave on overnight or up to several hours and wash off in the morning. Follow up with a moisturizer or serum.
