The 5 Best Products For Body Acne

The 5 Best Products For Body Acne

By Samantha

There’s no good time or place for acne to appear, but there are just some places that there shouldn’t be acne at all – like on my bum.

Body acne however does occur and many factors play a part which can include  hormones, stress, our environment, and bacteria or fungus (see my post on  How To Get Rid of Body Acne for the primary causes).

Sometimes it’s something as simple as washing our clothes in hot water or changing our clothes immediately after a sweating to resolve body acne. But that’s not always enough. Some of us are just prone to frequent  body acne breakouts, and so we need help with certain products that will keep fighting those breakouts all day long.

The best products for body acne are:

  1. Banish Pumpkin Enzyme Masque
  2. Paula’s Choice CLEAR Acne Body Spray
  3. The Body Shop Tea Tree Body Wash
  4. The Grandpa Soap Company Thylox Acne Treatment, Face & Body Bar Soap
  5. Shea Moisture African Black Soap Body Wash
  6. Level Naturals The Next Level of Natural Soap Tea Tree + Activated Charcoal Soap

Banish Pumpkin Enzyme Masque

The  Banish Pumpkin Enzyme Masque is my go to product whenever I have acne. It works really well with my active acne on my face so I said, why not try it on my body acne? Guess what, it didn’t fail me! I was so happy then as I got all my money’s worth for this product. This contains AHAs so it will also exfoliate the skin, leaving it fresher and smoother all over.

Paula’s Choice CLEAR Acne Body Spray

I’m a big fan of this product for a number of reasons, and it’s usually one of the first products I recommend for people dealing with body acne. It’s a high-quality product, and it’s versatile – two of my favourite things! It’s also very easy to use. You can literally spray from any angle, even upside down, which is especially useful if you have acne in hard-to-reach places like on your back. Talk about a human pretzel. I particularly like that you can spray and go, and that it doesn’t have any ingredients that will bleach fabrics (I’m looking at you, benzoyl peroxide).

It contains BHA salicylic acid, which has been  shown to effectively kill acne-causing  bacteria. It is a generally well-tolerated treatment option with minimal side effects. Salicylic acid is a great option for everyone, even people with  sensitive skin; this spray is also alcohol-free and contains soothing ingredients like allantoin and barberry extract which makes it the perfect non-drying formula for smooth, clear skin.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Body Wash

Tea tree oil is a personal favourite of mine, and it has been in my skin care bag for many years. It’s also a heavy-hitter in versatility, and will always be my go-to in a pinch! Although the bottle is a bit small, the price is right, and you don’t need very much product – a little goes a long way with  tea tree oil! Since tea tree oil is great at  killing bacteria, it’s especially great for those areas that might be stuck under tight clothing all day like our backs and bums! Like the PC product, this is a gentle and non-drying formula. It also doubles as an anti-inflammatory, which helps to take the redness out of the body acne which will make it less noticeable as it heals!

The Grandpa Soap Company Thylox Acne Treatment, Face & Body Bar Soap

granpa's soap sulfur

This one is my particular favourite, and the one that I use every single day to keep my body acne away. The active ingredient in this soap is  sulfur, which I have found my skin to be particularly receptive to. In fact, it’s one of the gentler options in this list, as reactions to sulfur are very rare and mild.

Sulfur is often neglected as an acne-fighting ingredient in skin care products. Not only does sulfur kill bacteria, but it also kills  fungus (which isn’t hard to pick up at the gym – ew), and has keratolytic properties, which means it hits several of the major contributors to body acne. When I started going to the gym I was really prone to body acne in all kinds of unmentionable places. Using this every time I shower has helped keep those pimples away completely!

Shea Moisture African Black Soap Body Wash

I’m not sure what it is about this liquid body wash that my skin prefers to the bar soap, but it makes my skin feel squeaky clean. Even though it contains soothing ingredients like aloe and vitamin E, it can still be quite drying, so it’s important to follow up your shower with a nice moisturizer to prevent  excessive dryness. This wash really packs a punch! But don’t worry, it’s still an option for people with sensitive skin. Just be careful, this stuff is a little bit messy and can stain fabrics!

Level Naturals The Next Level of Natural Soap Tea Tree + Activated Charcoal Soap

Tea tree makes another appearance in this little gem of a bar of soap, with the addition of charcoal.  Activated charcoal  is sponge-like in the sense that it has lots of holes and a gigantic surface area, which makes it particularly handy for soaking things up. Unlike traditional surfactants, charcoal has the potential to get into pores and absorb impurities and excess oil, which then gets washed away. In my experience, it is quite an  effective cleanser and deodorizer! It’s an especially great option for people who work hard and sweat hard! It’s a little less drying than the sulfur soap, probably because it’s loaded with soothing and moisturizing plant extracts.

No matter what your body acne concerns are, there are many great products for you to try out. Don’t be discouraged if one product doesn’t work for you! For more tips on how to get rid of your body acne, see  7 Ways to Get Rid of Body Acne For Good.
