Severe Adult Acne: The Struggle Is Real May 31 2017, 0 Comments
Acne can be an incredibly frustrating. Not to mention it is incredibly taxing on one’s self-esteem. Personally, I have lived with acne since I was 11 years old. Acne can be excruciating especially in your adolescent years. Typically, acne is caused by several factors like diet, stress, hormones, and genetics. A major contributor to my acne was from my diet.
Diet is a major component to focus on when you want to clear up those pesky pimples. Definitely, clean up your diet before doing anything major because a lot of times you can clear acne up on your own. This is because the acne can be caused by deficiencies within your body which can be altered with the proper diet. Cut out foods that can be allergens for a lot of individuals like gluten, dairy, corn, and soy. If you don’t feel that ambitious start cutting out high allergen foods one at a time and notice how your body reacts. Sadly, sugar and alcohol stir up those bothersome bumps.
If you are serious about clearing up your acne you want to cut down on sugary foods and alcohol consumption. Sugar and alcohol both put stress on the body and make the body susceptible to candida (aka yeast infections) which contribute to breakouts. If you want to opt for a non-alcoholic beverage that is just as delicious try kombucha.
Kombucha is a great alternative to alcohol because it is full of good bacteria (probiotics) which support your gut. Some great diets to look into are paleo or candida diets which give great options for clean eating. Now that you’ve eliminated and allergen filled foods you’ll want to eat lots of organic foods! Opt for protein high in omega 6 like salmon or grass fed beef, eat lots of green leafy veggies, and eat minimal fruit (avoid too sweet or overripe fruits). If your diet cleanup still isn’t working on eradicating your acne I would suggest getting a blood test done. Scary as needles can be I got an allergy blood test done.
The results make things very clear and simple by showing you exactly what foods you should and shouldn’t be eating. Stick to eating clean and you won’t be disappointed. Your body will go through a brief detox and you may have more breakouts and acne for a few weeks. However, once your detox is over you will notice a huge difference in the clarity of your skin. What have you got to lose?! It’s time to get healthy and get rid of that acne!
