As if acne wasn’t bad enough, it sometimes leaves behind those pesky red spots that never seem to fade away. Luckily, there are many different natural remedies out there that help lighten hyperpigmentation spots and post-acne marks. Listed below are a few cheap and natural methods to help fade those red spots.

  • Fresh Lemon Juice

Lemon juice has skin lightening properties and can be highly effective in lightening hyperpigmentation from acne. Combine equal parts lemon juice and purified water and apply the liquid directly onto your acne marks. Leave on for about 15-20 minutes then rinse off with warm water. Lemon juice can be drying on the skin so be sure to follow up with your favorite moisturizer.

  • Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is great because it provides a lot of moisture to the skin, encouraging acne marks to fade. It can also remove the dead skin cells and promote regeneration of new skin cells. It is recommended to buy a fresh aloe vera plant or leaf and use the sap from inside the leaf. The sap can be applied directly to acne marks and left on overnight. Aloe vera is also very gentle for sensitive skin and is very soothing.

  • Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar helps maintain and balance the pH of your skin. Apple cider vinegar has astringent properties that can help restore your skin’s natural color and reduce the appearance of red marks. Make a mixture of ½ apple cider vinegar and ½ filtered water. Use a cotton swab to apply this mixture to your face. You can either leave on overnight or wash off after a few minutes. Side note: if you have sensitive skin, try diluting the mixture with more water so it is not as strong.

  • Vitamin E

Vitamin E is also beneficial for fading acne marks. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that repairs and protects the skin. Vitamin E can come in cream, capsule, and liquid form. You can massage the Vitamin E oil directly onto your skin 1-2 times per day. Follow this simple remedy for a few weeks until you get positive results.

  • Turmeric

Turmeric is a natural antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and skin brightener. It also helps to balance and restore the skin’s pH level which helps to fade dark spots. Turmeric can come in both powder and capsule form. Turmeric can also be mixed with honey to create a mask that will help lighten spots and treat existing acne. Simple mix the ingredients until they form a paste and leave on for 15-20 minutes. Side note: turmeric can stain easily so be very careful with this mask.
