Learning the Importance of Moisturizing March 09 2015, 0 Comments

Moisturizing is a very important step in any skin care routine. I, personally, have very oily skin. I thought I would need to skip the step of moisturizing because of this. I was very wrong. If you do not moisturize, your skin feels like it doesn’t have enough oil, so it produces an excess of oil in return.
Not moisturizing is a big mistake also if you are like me and try every product to dry out your skin. I use Cetaphil’s moisturizer for oily skin. It gives a very matte finish, and I am moisturized but not overly oily. I do not over moisturize, though. This can cause many problems as well. You don’t want to add too much moisture in addition to the natural moisture that your own pores make. I only moisturize at the end of the day when I am stripping away all of my makeup and using all of these chemicals that take away my natural oil.
In addition to keeping your skin healthy, moisturizing has many other benefits too. Most moisturizers have SPF in them to protect your skin from the sun. Moisturizers also make your skin super soft, and eliminate the dryness that sometimes happens to a few of us. You don’t only need to moisturize your face; you can moisturize your entire body as well. Your legs need moisture when you shave, or your arms and stomach. All of your body is made of skin, and it needs just as much care as your face does.
With people that have dry skin, you might want to moisturize more often. Your skin doesn’t produce as much oil as rapid of a pace as people with oily skin do. Or to the people with combination skin, you might just want to moisturize the certain parts of your skin that need it and moisturize the other parts at the times that you really need it. I love moisturizing my skin; it makes me feel so much better. I know I am taking care of my skin properly and am not telling my skin to make more oil by stripping away the natural oils already there.
For most of my life, I have never moisturized. This is because it is a common misconception that people with oily skin do not need to moisturize. I cannot believe that I never questioned this misconception at any point in my life until I was told differently. My skin was going through all of these harsh chemicals, and I just let it dry out unnaturally without moisturizing. I never neglect moisturizing anymore. It is actually my favorite step in my skin care routine now.
I know that many people already moisturize because they have dry skin, but us oily skinned folks need to have healthy skin as well. I do not remember much about what my skin looked like before I started using moisturizer, but I know that it was not good. I have tried my hardest to maintain putting moisturizer on my face, but it is not a hard thing to continue doing since it makes my skin feel so great.
