How to keep your skin healthy and prevent skin damage October 09 2014, 0 Comments

When we are young we are blessed with wrinkleless plump faces. I have a baby face and often get mistaken for a 16 year old, so the idea of looking older doesn’t bother me. I think we all forget however that getting wrinkles is not a cute way took older. My best friend Meeghan is going into dermatology as her career and she has taught me a lot. I have also learned a lot from Youtube and the Dermatologist. I recommend everyone to educate yourself and do your research. We need to want to take good care of our bodies now in order to be happier and healthier later in life.

UVB rays are a small percent of the suns rays but can have a huge impact on your skin. They can cause the skin to loose elasticity, which causes wrinkles. It can make you at a much higher risk for skin cancer. The good news is there are a lot of things we can do to help prevent our skin from the suns rays. It is ideal to wear sunscreen whenever you are in the sun for a prolong amount of time. Make sure to reapply it and apply it well. Wearing a foundation with SPF is a good idea too. If you want to look like a bronzed goddess, try some at home fake tanning or a spray tan. You would be surprised you can find some pretty good ones. I know the sun is free and fake tanning costs money, but imagine how much money you might spend on anti-wrinkle products or medical bills when you get older because of your excessive tanning days.

Starting in your twenties is when they suggest you should start thinking about preventing wrinkles. I am 21 and this is something I have recently done. The best thing you can do is keep your skin moisturized. Use a facial moisturizer daily that is ideal for your skin type. Eye creams are very important because that area of the skin is the thinnest and one of the first places you see signs of aging. Don’t forget your chest, neck, hands, and feet. All of these places are often forgotten and again one of the places you see signs of aging first. Avoid excessive tugging on the face. I’m really bad about tugging on my eye when I apply eyeliner. Little daily things like that can cause premature aging.

Don’t forget to smile! I would rather get crows feet then never smile because I am worried about wrinkles. So be happy! I hope these tips are useful and you can apply them in your everyday life. Good luck!
